Hair with Heart: Honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month

At Trixie’s, we know that beauty isn’t just skin (or scalp) deep. That’s why this October, we’re putting the spotlight on the oncology massage, one of our most meaningful services. 

Collective research and studies have determined that massage can be a safe way to manage the side effects of cancer symptoms and its treatments. Oncology massage is a gentle, modified touch that addresses each specific individual’s needs and wants. Safety is always top of mind.

In addition to all of the benefits that oncology massage offers, one of the most important aspects is the simplest of them all — touch. Cancer can bring many changes to one’s body, mind and spirit. Some have companions and someone to lean on, while others are facing their battle alone. Simply sharing the act of human touch via massage therapy can be one of the most therapeutic benefits of all.

The Beacon: Lighting the Way for Women in Crisis

This month, we’re also shining a light on The Beacon, a local nonprofit doing amazing work helping break the cycle by empowering women facing trauma, mental illness, substance abuse and the threat of incarceration. They don’t believe in second chances as much as first opportunities — to heal, grow and build a brighter future.

Through transformational care, jail‐diversion programs, trauma‐informed services and a whole lot of compassion, The Beacon helps women reclaim their lives with dignity. Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every act of support helps women feel seen — and gives them tools to walk forward.

👑 NEW Queen on the Block: Welcome, Kirsten! 

Speaking of glow-ups ... our Wellness Team just got a whole lot dreamier. Say hey to Kirsten Weiland, our newest massage goddess on the block!

Kirsten is a healer with hands sent from heaven (and probably a sprinkle of fairy dust). With over a decade in therapeutic bodywork, Reiki energywork and a resume that includes working with patients at the MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center, she’s bringing major magic to our team.

Outside the massage room, she’s living her best life, swimming laps, gardening, cooking, attending concerts with her husband Mike — and yes, she’s recently taken up troll hunting (we have questions too). She’s also embracing empty-nester life, with her two grown kiddos, Zoey and Tate, off adventuring in the world. We’re so excited to have Kirsten’s magic and heart on our team!
