Summer has been in full swing at Trixies Salon & Spa, and if there's one thing we love, it's staying busy while making a difference. Check out how our July has been filled with moments worth celebrating!
Creating Confidence, One Haircut at a Time
One of the most meaningful highlights of our summer so far was volunteering at Heart Camp Connection in Boone with Children's Cancer Connection.
Our Heart of a Hairdresser team was honored to participate in the Hair Cutting Ceremonies and the always-popular Glam Squad experience.
Watching these incredible kids laugh, encourage one another, and embrace every step of their journey is something we'll never take for granted. We're so thankful to be part of such a special experience year after year.
Celebrating Our Queen

July also brought a very special birthday ...
Happy 50th Birthday to our owner, fearless leader, biggest cheerleader, and the heart behind Trixies—Tricia!
Your kindness, passion, leadership, and endless love for our team, guests, and community are what make Trixies feel like home. Thank you for believing in us, inspiring us every day, and creating a place where everyone feels welcome.
Cheers to our Mama Llama—we love you!
Wellness Wednesday: Smooth Skin Season
Summer means sunshine, sandals...and silky smooth skin!
Did you know waxing is one of the easiest ways to level up your self-care routine? Benefits include:
Softer, smoother skin thanks to gentle exfoliation
Hair that grows back finer over time
Longer-lasting results than shaving
Fewer razor bumps and less irritation
A confidence boost that lasts well beyond your appointment
No matter if you’re booking brows, legs, underarms, or your favorite glow-up service, we're here to help you feel confident all summer long.
Supporting Our Community
Giving back is one of our favorite things to do, and July gave us plenty of opportunities.
Aptitude Fitness Summer Camp
Marlee, Lisa, and Katie had an amazing time partnering with Aptitude Fitness Summer Camp, helping participants feel confident, beautiful, and ready to shine. There's nothing better than empowering others while supporting our local community.
Food Bank of Iowa: Our Nonprofit of the Season
This season, we're proud to partner with the Food Bank of Iowa to help fight hunger across our state.
You can join us by:
Donating nonperishable food items
Making a financial contribution
Volunteering your time
Every donation makes an impact, and together we can help ensure our neighbors have access to the food they need. Stop by Trixies to learn how you can get involved!
Summer on the Road

July also took Team Trixies to the Iowa Girls State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge!
We loved meeting athletes, families, and fans while handing out our signature pink sunglasses, SPF, and other fun goodies at our booth in center field.
A huge thank you to Triplett Office Solutions for creating our promotional items and to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union for allowing us to be part of such an incredible event. We love supporting young athletes and celebrating our Iowa communities.
Growing Together

Monday mornings are extra special at Trixies.
This month we kicked off the week with a wellness session led by Dr. Luke from Restoration Chiropractic, reminding us that caring for ourselves helps us better care for everyone who sits in our chairs.
After a delicious breakfast together, our team shared favorite memories through a fun drawing activity that brought lots of laughs, a few happy tears, and countless reminders of why we love what we do.
Looking Ahead: Women & Whiskey
We're thrilled to be the Presenting Sponsor of the upcoming Women & Whiskey Curated Dinner during the Des Moines Whiskey Festival.
This unforgettable evening combines incredible chef-crafted cuisine, thoughtfully paired whiskeys, and a celebration of twelve inspiring women making a difference in our community. Proceeds from the inaugural Women & Whiskey Calendar will benefit The Beacon Des Moines, making this event both meaningful and memorable.
Mark your calendars for October 1 at the River Center!
