What’s hot right now? Hint: it’s these hair trends!

Ready to spice things up and transform your tresses this winter?

We sat down with Maddie Pebsworth, stylist extraordinaire at Trixies Salon and Spa, to spill the tea on what’s trending this season and how you can slay your hair game.

So grab a peppermint mocha, and let’s dive in!

Trend Alert: Layers, Curtain Bangs, and Copper Tones

Maddie says, “I’ve been seeing a variety of trends this year, but the biggest one we’ve run into is having long hair with lots of layers. It’s really giving Farrah Fawcett. Curtain bangs have also been huge!”

When it comes to color, rich coppers and brunettes are making waves.

“I think the silver-white hair trend is finally out,” she adds.

So, if you’re looking to shake up your look, consider warm and sultry tones to cozy up to winter.

Snip, Snip! Winter Hair Transition Tips

Maddie’s personal winter hair hack? A strategic seasonal chop!

“Personally, I like to chop my hair in the fall and let it grow throughout the winter,” she says. “Having short hair for me personally makes it easier to get my coats and scarfs on and off, and makes it faster for my hair to blow dry on those colder days when I don’t want to run out with wet hair. Then my hair is longer for spring and summer time so I can pull it out of my face when it’s hot!

For those who love low-maintenance, darker shades are a great pick as well.

“Lots of people like to go darker in the fall and winter months so they can let it go and have less maintenance during everyone’s busy holiday schedule,” Maddie says. “That way you can let the dark fade out and switch it up in spring!”

Hair Trends for Every Type

Think you can’t rock these trends?

Think again! Maddie encourages everyone to collaborate with their stylist.

“Talk to your stylist! They should always be willing to customize your service and give you personal tips on how to bring your vision to life in the salon and at home.”

Keep Your Hair Happy and Hydrated

Winter weather can wreak havoc on your hair, but Maddie’s got the fix.

“Hydrate hydrate hydrate!”

To keep your hair healthy and hydrated, use a water-based conditioning treatment every time you condition. Avoid protein masks, bonding masks, or oils unless specifically recommended by your stylist—too much protein can overload your hair and cause damage, just like having too little!

Oils can also be tricky, especially if they’re synthetic, as they tend to coat your hair instead of nourishing it. Stick to hydrating products that replenish moisture naturally.

Remember, your hair, skin, and body thrive on hydration from water and the natural oils you produce, so focus on treatments that support this balance!
