More Than Hair: What We’ve Been Building at Trixies

At Trixies, we’ve never wanted to be just a salon.
Yes, we care about amazing hair. Obviously. But we also care about confidence, creativity, connection, community, and creating spaces where people feel good the second they walk through the door.
Lately, we’ve been growing in some really exciting ways — not just behind the chair, but as a team and as a business. It feels really special.
So here’s a little peek at what’s been happening in our world lately.
Trixies Treasures Has Officially Entered the Chat

Because apparently doing hair wasn’t enough for us 😂 We recently launched Trixies Treasures — a curated collection of reloved finds, fun pieces, accessories, and little gems we genuinely love ourselves.
This isn’t one of those overwhelming boutique situations where you have to dig through 97 random graphic tees and a candle named “Farmhouse Rainstorm.”
It’s good finds. Pieces with personality. Things that make you feel a little cooler.
Honestly, it felt like a natural extension of who we already are. Hair and style have always gone hand in hand for us, and this just gives our guests another way to have fun expressing themselves.
Fair warning though… you might leave your appointment with more than fresh hair now.
Reigniting the Aveda Experience
Recently, our Uptown team attended the Aveda Immersion event at Gathering Grounds in Bussey, Iowa — and it was one of those days that fills your cup back up creatively and emotionally.
Picture a room full of Aveda salons and teams from across Iowa and surrounding states, all reconnecting to the mission, passion, and purpose behind what we do every day.
There were powerful stories about Aveda’s history, inspiring presentations, wellness moments, amazing conversations, delicious food, and even shoulder massages for each other. Simply incredible.
More than anything, it reminded us why we love this industry so much. We came home energized with fresh ideas and renewed excitement for the guest experience here at Trixies — and we can’t wait to continue bringing that energy into the salon.
Partnerships That Actually Mean Something
Since the end of 2025, we’ve become incredibly intentional about our partnerships, sponsorships, collaborations, and where we spend our time and energy.
We don’t want to align with things just because they “look good.” We want to be part of work that genuinely matters and reflects the kind of impact we want to make in our community.

Recently, Katie Bennett and Kirsten Weiland spent the morning with the Polk County Cancer Coalition learning more about how we can better support and serve people in our community impacted by cancer. It was an opportunity to connect with local organizations, hear important conversations around prevention, education, access, and support, and learn how businesses like ours can help make a difference.
We’re incredibly grateful to the Polk County Health Department for creating space for these
conversations and bringing people together to collaborate and create change.
And speaking of meaningful partnerships…
We are SO proud to partner with the Iowa Girls High School Association. This one hits especially close to home for us.
There’s something incredibly powerful about young women learning confidence, leadership, resilience, teamwork, and discipline through sports. Those lessons don’t stop at the court, field, mat, or track — they carry into adulthood, careers, relationships, business ownership, motherhood, and life.
At Trixies, cheering people on is kind of our thing. Especially young women learning to find their voice, strength, and confidence. We’re honored to support an organization doing so much good for the next generation — and trust us, we plan to be some of their biggest cheerleaders. 💙
Let’s Talk Hair Growth for a Minute…

If thinning hair, fine hair, or lack of fullness has been frustrating you lately, we need to introduce you to a product we’ve been loving around here: Zenagen Densifying Hair Serum.
This lightweight, water-based serum is specifically designed for fine and thinning hair without leaving behind greasy buildup or heavy residue.
And the results speak for themselves:
83% of women in a clinical study saw
visible improvement in thickness and fullness.
We love that it’s simple, effective, and easy to incorporate into a real-life routine. No complicated 14-step process. No crunchy scalp situation. Just targeted support for healthier-looking, fuller hair.
If you’ve been curious about hair density support, ask your stylist during your next appointment. We’d love to help you figure out if it’s a good fit for your hair goals.
Meet Nicole ✨

We’re also incredibly excited to officially welcome Nicole to the Trixies team! She’ll be working at both Uptown and Wesley on Grand, and she already fits right in with our crew.
Nicole has been behind the chair for over 14 years and originally trained with Aveda before expanding her experience across multiple brands and techniques.
She loves customized color, short haircuts, fun color transformations, and creating styles that truly fit each guest. But she’ll also tell you there’s nothing more satisfying than a gorgeous blowout with beautiful long layers.
Outside the salon, Nicole is rebuilding life back in Iowa after spending 12 years in Florida with her husband, two kids, and very full household of pets.
And because one fun fact is never enough around here…
A Few Things You Should Know About Nicole:
She met her husband in Italy during college
She’s a former theatre kid and fully committed to karaoke nights
She loves random tattoos from places she travels
She’s recently fallen back in love with reading
She’s learning plant mom life (accepting thoughts and prayers)
